Healthcare in Transition
Healthcare in Transition
A seven year study by the American Medical Association, published by JAMA Vol. 280 #18 revealed: Alternative medicine patients visits increased by 47.3% or 202 million visits. Alternative medicine out of pocket "cash payments" increased by 45.2% to $27 billion, equal to all cash payments made for physician services. Primary care patient visits decreased by 1.8 million during the same period! Estimated supplement sales today is at 97 billion annually. Traditional healthcare as we knew it is over! It is the AGE OF PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and DISCOVERY.
Traditionally, the healthcare provider has been responsible for two crucial acts: diagnosis and treatment. Aside from specialization, today's provider now has four crucial areas to embrace if he/she wants to remain fiscally viable: diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and wellness. However, some one million licensed physicians lack sufficient knowledge and implementation of the latter. The conventional approach to health complaints is: What, Identify (single cause), Separate Symptoms, and Quantify Pathology. The new approach asks: Why, (looks at) Complex Interrelationships (everything is connected), Relationship of Symptoms, and Quantifies Function, Pleomorphism (the mutation of healthy cells) and Biological Terrain. A study of "America's Changing Culture and Lifestyle", done by the Hartman Group revealed "There emerged a single unifying theme which linked the narrative"... Consumers were virtually unanimous in their search for wellness. The challenge in today's environment is that symptoms don't always fit the conventional ICD 9 diagnosis, complaints are usually multi-focused, and many patients fail to respond to conventional therapies, drugs and surgery. Today's typical patient presents: Chronic Fatigue, Muscle Aches and Pains, Allergies, Weakness, Headaches, Depression, Chronic Backaches, IBS, PMS/Menopausal Symptoms, Anxiety/Insomnia, Constipation. They are now seeing alternative providers; because no conventional therapy has helped them significantly. Back to Nature Clinic is a multi-focused clinic utilizing the best in nutritional medical science, and as well has comprehensive detoxification programs.
